KAREN LIZARAZO LIGHTS UP CHRISTMAS WITH THE VALLENATO VERSION OF “DICIEMBRE”

THE QUEEN OF VALLENATO GIFTS THIS SONG FOR THE HOLIDAY SEASON AND WILL RELEASE THE VIDEO ON DECEMBER 1ST

Miami, December 3th, 2025 — Karen Lizarazo, recently nominated for the 2025 Latin Grammy, presents her version of “Diciembre,” a blend of vallenato and folk rhythms to celebrate this Christmas.

For the artist, this song becomes a Christmas gift for her mancha morada (purple fanbase) and for her mother, who inspired her to record her own version of the song.

Karen and her mother first heard the song during a trip to the Cali Fair when she was a child. At that time, the original—written by the late singer-songwriter Junior Jein—became an anthem of the Christmas season in Cali, leaving a special memory for the Queen of Vallenato.

In those years, the song was a salsa choque, formerly known as raspa con reggaetón. Now, the artist presents it as a vallenato that fuses cumbia, porro, fandango, and instruments such as clarinets, trombones, drums, electric guitar, caja, accordion, and guacharaca.

“This song represents a Christmas gift for my mom and a dream come true for me—to have an anthem for the mancha morada in December. We didn’t have a song that represented us during this time of year, one that was ours in vallenato and not already part of the genre’s traditional repertoire. This will be the Karen Lizarazo classic so people will always remember me every December with this song.”  Karen Lizarazo
